Both instruments are owned and operated by the Buffalo VAMC Pathology and Laboratory Medicine department. The Genexus instrument utilizes the Oncomine Precision Assay which enables simultaneous detection of biomarkers across 50 genes, including key targets within EGFR, BRAF, KRAS, ALK, ROS1, NTRK, RET, HER2, and others, from solid tissue samples. Genomic profiling of tumors from cancer patients facilitates molecular-guided therapy. The OPA NGS panel has significant clinical utility in cancer treatment by providing comprehensive genomic profiling of a tumor sample, allowing healthcare providers to identify actionable genetic alterations and select the most appropriate targeted therapies for a patient based on their specific tumor mutations, leading to more effective treatment plans.
